Frequently Asked Dental Questions - Pewaukee, WI

Working to Keep All Patients Informed

Have you been thinking about getting a specific treatment but aren’t sure which one is right for you? Got a question about the services we offer or just about dentistry in general? Below, we’ve included the most frequently asked dental quesitons our dentistry team hears. If your question is not listed, feel free to call us directly!

How often should I visit for a dental cleaning?

We recommend patient visit our dental office once every six months to ensure no underlying problems are present and perform a detailed cleaning. These visits are intended to remove plaque and tartar from hard-to-reach areas of the mouth as well as catch issues before they have a chance to turn into expensive dental emergencies. Your child’s first dental appointment should occur within six months of their first tooth erupting or by their first birthday.

Can you replace missing teeth?

Absolutely! Our dental office can design and place a dental bridge or denture, both of which are made to replace teeth and make your smile complete. We make sure that all restorations look natural and fit comfortably in your mouth before you leave, so you can feel confident about your future tooth replacement. Our restorations are also free of any metal materials.

What’s the best way to resolve a cavity?

When a tooth has developed a cavity as a result of decay, we can restore it using a tooth-colored filling. This material is completely metal-free and is much easier to fit inside of a cavity, meaning we do not have to remove existing enamel just to make it fit. If you have a filling that is taking up more than two-thirds of your natural tooth, a crown will be needed to replace it.

How can you enhance my smile?

We have many options for making your smile look exactly the way you want via cosmetic dentistry. While we offer traditional solutions like in-office/take-home whitening, direct bonding, and porcelain veneers, we also provide Botox and Dermal Fillers for those looking to remove wrinkles and facial lines around the mouth, eyes, and forehead.

Can you see my children for dental care?

Ostrand Family Dentistry makes families a priority, no matter how old or young. Not only are we happy to see kids and provide many services that will protect their oral health, but we also provide a play area for them to enjoy while they wait at their appointment. We want to make them feel comfortable during every step of their treatment!

Can I get a dental implant at your dental office?

While we do not place dental implants in-office, we do partner with a local specialist who can perform the surgical portion and ensure the most successful outcome possible for your future tooth replacement. We are happy to provide you with a natural-looking, metal-free restoration that goes on top of your newly placed dental implant! We’ll make sure that it blends in perfectly and evenly with the rest of your smile.

I have jaw pain. Can a dentist help me?

Dr. Ostrand is happy to perform TMJ diagnosis right here in our dental office. We also provide NTI and occlusal/bruxism guards and Botox if needed. On top of that, we’re happy to partner with a TMJ specialist down the road from our dental office who can provide splints and physical therapy for those with more complex needs.
